SYLLABUS BREAKDOWN

You are not helpless when facing violence in the workplace. Techniques and tactics that enable you to stop violence before starts or de-escalate violent situations if they occur, do exist. The mission of the Anti-Violence Training Institute is to arm employees and managers with powerful tools so that they can defeat violence.

What is Anti-Violence Training?
People can be violent. People can be nonviolent. But when people take a proactive approach to preventing and de-escalating violence, or are forced to physically defend themselves, they can also be anti-violent. Actions such as making sure key doors are secured or knowing what to say or do if someone is threatening you are all acts of anti-violence. Recovering from the trauma of violence and maintaining mental and emotional equilibrium is also a bold form of anti-violence action.

Training Philosophy
Our goal is to give people the skills they need to stay safe from violence. The training is based on down-to-earth realities and time-tested solutions that are proven to be effective. The de-escalation techniques are easy to learn and make sense which makes them memorable. This course meets and exceeds all state mandated requirements. The program covers everything from recognizing the origins of workplace violence to protecting yourself in an active shooter situation and dealing with the emotional aftermath of a violent event.

Your instructor
John Zulli, Ph.D., has been teaching people to keep themselves safe from violence since 1999. Calling upon a decade of work as a peace officer and state certified defensive tactics instructor, John developed this program in response to the Columbine High School shooting. Originally developed for school systems and taught throughout the state of California, the program has been expanded to meet the needs of government agencies, banking organizations, energy companies, grocery, pharmacy, and other retail operations as well as delivery services. John is known for his positive approach to the topic of workplace violence. “My job is to empower people, not terrify them,” says Dr. Zulli. As one of the most engaging voices in cooperate training today, John Zulli’s teaching style will captivate your audience and deliver the message that everyone plays a part in keeping the workplace safe. People leave John’s training with a toolbox filled with the skills they need to prevent and defeat violence.
